MBA Program

MBA (Master of Business Administration) provides a graduate education in foundational business practices, such as accounting, finance, marketing and management. It is often a beneficial degree choice for working professionals who need to obtain additional education to reach their career goals and climb the corporate ladders of business administration. Taking an interdisciplinary approach to learning, MBA programs are not only meant to understanding of business management, but also to further develop their critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Course Overview

The MBA program is designed to further develop the student’s career in management.  It is structured into two stages and can be completed in two years. The first stage consists of eight core modules:

STAGE I 

1. Study Skills for Postgraduate Learning

Provides the essential skills and knowledge required for studying at postgraduate level. The module is designed to support study in the program’s other modules and to develop transferred skills useful for a manager. 

2. International Marketing Strategy

Coverage of a wide range of contemporary issues in strategic marketing with a particular focus on international cultural dimension.

3. Management Control and Accountability for Financial Resources

Considers the responsibility of managers for the financial resources under their control and introduces control and management techniques.

4. Managing People in Organisations

Examines some of the contemporary themes associated with managing people. A thematic approach to the subject develops an awareness of the concepts and theory that underpin organizational behavior and human resource management.

5. Strategic Operations Management

Develops an understanding and the ability to critically appraise decision making relating to operations management in both the manufacturing and services sectors.

6. Information and Knowledge Management

Considers the effective use of information and knowledge by managers in organisations and technology is used to manage, capture and derive information and knowledge.

7. Strategic Management

Focuses upon strategic analysis by utilizing a set of analytical techniques for understanding better and influencing a company position in actual and potential marketplace.

8. Research Methods

Develops the knowledge and skills needed by both senior management and for further academic research including critical and creative thinking, complex problem solving, decision-making and research skills.

Students who have successfully completed the eight core modules in the First Stage can progress to the Second Stage by applying for the MBA Top-up course at many UK Universities such as Worcester, Northampton and Plymouth.

Stage II

 

Assessment is project-based where you will undertake dissertation under the supervision of an academic with expertise in your chosen subject area.

The course will be delivered in an intensive study block on campus wherein you will attend the Research Methods class at the University of Worcester over a two-week period. As part of the intensive study block, you will also have the opportunity to meet your dissertation supervisor who will work with you as you complete your dissertation at a distance.

Completing your stage two with the University of Northampton will allow you to study at your own convenience without the need to travel or physically attend classes whilst enhancing employment opportunities.

You will be supported throughout the process by the university’s great teaching staff who are professionally qualified and have industry and academic experience to share.
